We are proud to announce our 2012-13 funded programs!
Woodland In-Home Respite and Friendly Visiting Program by Citizens Who Care
This program provides weekly in-home support and friendly visiting with isolated and medically frail elderly individuals and respite for their caregivers. Client families receive two-hour weekly visits from a CWC volunteer and on-going direct support from a professional assessment nurse.
Smile Savers Program by CommuniCare Health Centers
This program provides oral health education, dental screenings, flouride treatment and dental sealants in Woodland preschools and elementary schools to promote dental health and early dental care for children.
Family Transitional Housing Program by Davis Community Meals
This program provides homeless families with a place to reside in a safe and stable environment that meets their daily needs for food and shelter while allowing them the opportunity to receive supportive services and to rebuild their lives. They are allowed to remain in the program for a maximum period of 18 months.
Yolo Crisis Nursery by EMQ Families First
This program provides primary child abuse prevention services to families with children birth to age 5, who are experiencing life crises or high levels of stress. The Nursery provides short-term "homelike" residential respite care for children and connects parents and caregivers with community resources to help resolve issues such as domestic violence, unemployment, and homelessness so that they are able to safely reunite their families.
Enough To Eat Program by Food Bank of Yolo County
This program provides a diverse and nutritional inventory of perishable and nonperishable commodities to the nonprofit agencies Food Bank serves, which includes food closests, shelters, after school programs, soup kitchens and churches.
Elevate Tutoring Program by Lord's Gym - Woodland
This program provides one-on-one and small group tutoring to K-12 students at the Lord's Gym Woodland Sports Center. Elevate's goal is to build relationships and provide educational assistance in order to help students of our community reach their full potential.
Project Hope by Northern California Children's Therapy Center
This program provides access for special needs children in Yolo County to early intervention and an array of comprehensive multiple therapy programs aimed at helping disabled children reach their greatest level of independence.
Latina Outreach Program by Sexual Assault and Domestic Violence Center
This program offers the full range of services including crisis intervention, counseling, legal and outreach services for monolingual, Spanish-speaking residents of Yolo County.
Choose Life Program by Suicide Prevention and Crisis Services of Yolo County
This program is a school-based education and prevention program that targets adolescents in all secondary and continuation schools in Yolo County. Choose Life educates children on the warning signs of suicide and how to access help by using the 24-hour ASK hotline.
Strength Through Education Program (S.T.E.P.) by Woodland Literacy Council
This program provides one-on-one and small group goal-oriented basic literacy tutoring to homeless residents at the Yolo Wayfarer Center. Programs also include job and computer literacy, youth literacy, creative writing and GED tutoring.
Supported Housing Program by Yolo Community Care Continuum
This program provides permanent supported housing for individuals with a chronic mental illness and who qualify as very low income according to HUD guidelines. United Way funds are used to leverage $84,423 in federal dollars through the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) to house those with no income who are eligible for government benefits due to their mental illness.
Low-Income Counseling Program by Yolo Family Service Agency
This program provides counseling to low income children, families and individuals of Yolo County regardless of their ability to pay.
Supported Employment Training Program by Yolo Wayfarer Center Christian Mission
This program provides homeless individuals with employment skills, training and certifications that will improve their employability and opportunity to become self-sufficient.
